In this age of microwaves and Google we live in a state of 'rush'.
We rush here and there in our fast cars, we speed away and fly at the speed of sound in outer space. The astronauts circle the Earth 16 times faster than the earth rotates on its axis. Wrap your mind around that!
Business men rush to get ahead of their competitors, news hounds rush to meet the deadlines, shoppers rush to get the bargains.
One thing I have noticed though, people are not rushing into church.
The stress and strain of rush causes heart attacks, high blood pressure, ulcers, and accidents. And then of course the ambulances rush us to the hospital.
It seems we forget God's admonition, "Be still and know that I am God."
We need to ask ourselves, do we slow down long enough to study God's Word, to talk to Him, to listen for His voice.
"Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me: for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I wait all the day." Psalm 25:5
How different our lives would be if we prayed this prayer every day because we wanted nothing more than to know God's truth, to read, study, search and wait on Him, the God of our salvation. Let's slow down and wait on the Lord, take time for all that's important.
"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalms 27:14
