Matthew 6:19-21 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." When Jesus died, He left almost nothing of value. You remember the story of the soldiers, who, at the foot of the Cross distributed the few items of clothing He owned.Just one piece was worth bargaining for. A long seamless robe. In anyone's eyes He was a poor man, but what a legacy He left! He had no will, no money, no real estate, not even a place to lay His head. But, oh, what a life! He left a legacy! A legacy of purity, an example of service and unselfishness. He lived a life of obedience to His Father's will that won our Salvation and we could go on and on. Here, I pause...if I should die today, what would be the legacy of my life? How about you? What would we be remembered for? Would we have made any difference? Would the world be better, would our family be stronger, would the coming of our Lord and Savior be a little bit nearer? Could we say with Paul as in 2 Timothy 4:6-8 "For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love His appearing."
